My name is Georgios Tsakonas .
I am a restaurateur, olive farmer, direct importer – but above all: a person with a deep love for good, honest food.
My journey began early: As a child, I came to Wilhelmshaven with my parents. They came as guest workers, and I grew up surrounded by German farms and Greek traditions. Later, I trained as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk—but my heart lay in the kitchen.
In the 1980s, I took over my first restaurant. 16 more followed over the years – from Wilhelmshaven to Oldenburg and even the Bremen region. But I was never just interested in business; I was always interested in taste, origin, and honest products. Even back then, I began bringing olive oil, wine, and specialties directly from my hometown – initially for the family and kitchen, then also for guests, friends, and regular customers.
What began as a souvenir became an integral part of my gastronomic concept: direct imports from Greece, from people who love their craft – in bottles, cans and jars.
After selling my last restaurant business, a new chapter began for me. I devoted myself to my family's olive groves in Greece with nothing but curiosity and dedication. I wanted to understand how the oil we use so naturally is produced. From cultivation to harvesting to pressing, I learned everything from the ground up – by hand, with respect for the plants, the soil, and time.
This is how Gamma Tav was born – named after my Greek initials "Γ" (Gamma) and "Τ" (Tav). A name that represents not only me, but also our philosophy: genuine, good things – from people who create them with heart.
Today I work with my son, who takes care of the digital part – he actually develops games, programs and designs Here, he takes care of the online shop and marketing. I handle product quality, suppliers, and selection. Together, we combine craftsmanship and technology, heritage and future – with the goal of raising the profile of high-quality Greek products and appreciating their producers .
We're not interested in making big money.
For us, it's all about honest work meeting honest enjoyment.
